RELUCTANT RIFLEMAN

Sergeant Lee McBride's World War II Memoir

Lee McBride's memoirs of his combat experience in Germany from November 1944 to June 1945 are a rich account of life as a combat infantryman. Lee was one of thousands of citizen soldiers drafted to fight a war an ocean away from home. He was willing to fight out of a sense of duty but ultimately just wanted to go home and live in peace. Read his memoirs on this site. Or to learn more about his experience, read Reluctant Rifleman on Kindle or as an inexpensive paperback.

This website also contains links to key primary sources used to write the book, many of Lee's photographs, and a map that charts the path of his infantry company through Germany.
